Purpose

Our Occupational Therapists administer Functional Capacity Assessments to evaluate your functional abilities, identify challenges, and tailor personalised interventions to enhance your independence in daily activities. These assessments also facilitate access to suitable support and NDIS funding to meet your individual goals and needs.

What to expect

Functional Capacity Assessment involves assessments, interviews and observations conducted by our Occupational Therapists, involving communication with all relevant parties. Upon completion, expect a detailed report provided to you, your Support Coordinator and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

FCA Report

The individual will receive a detailed report outlining strengths, challenges, and recommended supports to achieve their NDIS goals and additional funding for other necessary supports.

Who is this for?

Functional Capacity Assessment is beneficial for NDIS participants and individuals seeking NDIS access assistance as it outlines a comprehensive evaluation of their functional abilities. This assessment helps in identifying their strengths and challenges, which in turn informs the development of tailored support plans.

Service area

Our Functional Capacity Assessment services are provided through mobile visits, in-clinic appointments, and telehealth consultations.

FAQs

FCAs typically involve evaluations, interviews, and observations conducted by Occupational Therapists to assess various functional areas such as mobility, self-care skills, communication, and cognitive abilities.
The duration of a Functional Capacity Assessment can vary depending on the complexity of the individual’s needs and additional time is required for report writing following the assessment.
After completing the FCA, the Occupational Therapist will provide recommendations and develop a personalised intervention plan to address the individual’s specific needs and goals conveyed into a report. This plan can include therapy sessions, assistive devices, environmental modifications, and other supports aimed at promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.
Functional Capacity Assessment and report writing are often funded through the NDIS as part of an individual’s plan. It is crucial to discuss funding options with your NDIS planner, Local Area Coordinator or Support Coordinator.
